BLW/ZosaTrains Presents The New Haven Equipments Pack II
The New Haven Railroad was formed in 1872
and disappeared into Penn Central on January 1, 1969. The New Haven dieselized in the
1940s, and mostly with Alco locomotives. The initial orders of PAs and FAs were delivered
in Hunter Green and Orange "layer Cake" scheme with sliver stripes, this scheme
was replaced by a pullman green and gold scheme that was shared with the New Haven's fleet
of electric locomotives. Hood units and switchers wore warm orange and pullman green. In
the late 1950s these schemes were 'replaced' by the more famous red black and white, but
some of these diesels wore the green and gold until retirement.
Belanger Locomotive Works and ZosaTrains are proud to introduce the New Haven Railroad
Alco fleet of 1945-55. These locomotives display both the Hunter Green and Orange
"layer Cake" scheme as well as the Pullman Green and gold of the late 1940s.
Gaetan Belanger (BLW) has modified his Alco models to more accurately represent the New
Haven versions, including lowered cab roofs on the Alco S-1 and S-2 and train control
hardware on the RS-2 and RS-3 models. Rick Franzosa (ZosaTrains) has used a combination of
photographs from his collection as a basis to accurately represent these models as they
appeared in the late 1950’s.
